The providers have to send a signal which turns if off after deactivation. If your particular radio is listening, it will read that signal and deactivate.They sold me one for and credited me a few months, which took care of the cost of the radio and then some. If the radio never gets this signal, it will not deactivate. but there is no way to actually know for sure without talking to them. I also have a trick that will make sure you will get this to work. I had a radio where the antenna broke while active.
